Brandon was 15 years old, attending summer school, trying to complete an Algebra class ahead of time – so he says
. It just so happened that Daviess County High was holding the class at Apollo High School. After class, Brandon was sitting in the hall waiting for his ride home. As he waited, a short, beautiful 16 year old blond stopped and asked if he knew where the library was located. She explained how she attends Daviess County High but was taking a Summer reading course. They exchanged names and went their way.
The following week, Brandon went to apply at Winn-Dixie for his first job. As he walked in, he was greeted by the same beautiful girl he met the week before, this time working the register. Both surprised at another odd encounter. They spoke for a while and then went about their business. Brandon, needless to say, got the job at Winn-Dixie. As they began working together, they formed a friendship. When school started back, they found they had mutual friends which led them to hang out together more often.
As the years went on, they grew even closer. Then, as a teen movie would have scripted, Catherine graduated high school and moved to Lexington to attend college. Brandon stayed behind finished high school and attended college for his first two years in Owensboro. Even though there was a distance between them, they still kept in contact. Catherine would visit Owensboro and Brandon would visit Lexington. Weekly phone calls were made filling each other in on current events in their lives.
When Brandon was ready to transfer schools, he decided to move to Lexington with his best friends (Clay Stringer and Jake Foster). Brandon and Catherine were able to pick up their friendship as it was before she left for college. As time in Lexington moved on, their friendship evolved into a relationship. The bond… the friendship… they have built a foundation that many relationships do not have; something that people notice when the couple is around. They click. They fit.
Even though it took 6 years for Brandon and Catherine to realize they were meant to be together, their friends and family knew the friendship was merely a stepping stone to the next part of their lives together.
